Hi, I am Hui Kristensen, the founder of Dark Swan of Denmark. I fell in love with false eyelashes back in my 20s, they gave me that quiet confidence, like slipping into your favorite dress. But I could never find lashes that truly worked for me. My natural lashes are short and point downward, which made most false lashes feel too dramatic and heavy.
So in 2013, I started my own brand, driven by my personal need to create lashes that looked and felt like my own, just longer and fuller. And I thought, maybe there are other women out there looking for the same.
What began as a small business idea has since grown into a brand loved by makeup artists around the world. By chance, our lashes were discovered by Tricia Sawyer, head of makeup for the hit TV series House of Cards. Since then, we’ve become a go-to for celebrity artists and industry professionals seeking natural, customizable lashes. I’ve had the incredible privilege of designing lashes for characters played by Anne Hathaway, Margot Robbie, and Nicole Kidman.
I believe what makes our lashes unique and trusted for red carpets, film, and everyday close-ups, is the brand’s signature design: each lash varies naturally in thickness and tapers into a whispery tip, creating a soft, realistic look. Our silk collection, with its ultra-thin lash band, makes the lashes virtually undetectable, even in high-definition close-ups, so you can feel completely confident. No one’s going to know.
